Our Team

Union Gallery’s operational structure includes two core staff: the Gallery Director and Program Director. Core staff supervise and train part-time staff and volunteers who contribute to programming and operations. Together, the Gallery Director and Program Director collaborate on the gallery’s artistic vision and administration, ensuring the mandate and objectives of UG are carried out through its initiatives.

    Morgan Wedderspoon (she/her) is an artist, educator, and arts administrator who is passionate about art practice in community and its potential for grassroots-led social transformation—both imagining and working toward a more just and livable future for all. She earned a Master of Fine Art in Printmaking from the University of Alberta and holds a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) from Queen’s University.

    Haley Sarfeld (she/they) is a writer, performer, composer-lyricist, and arts-worker-of-all-trades. Her theatre criticism appears on the Kingston Theatre Alliance blog, in the Kingston Whig-Standard, and in Intermission Magazine, and her crossword puzzle can be found in The Skeleton Press. When left to her own devices, Haley enjoys singing, gardening, foraging, collaging, and telling stories about love and onions.

  • Faten Mitwasi

    Curatorial Assistant
    2024-2025

    Currently a PhD student in Screen Cultures and Curatorial Studies, Faten is a Palestinian artist who employs a range of mediums, from handicrafts and digital photography to video, to create her site-specific installations.

    From an early age, Faten has been focused on the documentation, historiography, and presentation of Palestinian art. She has conducted extensive research in this field, authored several articles and three books, and curated various exhibitions and art projects.

  • Baraa Abuzayed

    Development Assistant
    2024-2025

    Baraa is a Palestinian scholar, currently based in Katarokwi Kingston. She's a Ph.D. student in Cultural Studies, and her current research focuses on themes of social reproduction, home, family, fragmentation, and survival. Through her research-creation practice, Baraa incorporates mixed media installation using textiles and film. Her work often involves incorporating traditional Palestinian embroidery techniques and patterns by blending different mediums.

    Baraa is currently a board director of Modern Fuel, and she's looking forward to working at Union Gallery. Most importantly, Baraa looks forward to supporting student artists and programming.

Volunteers

Volunteers are an essential part of Union Gallery. Volunteer positions centre experiential learning, and we invite our volunteers to get involved in gallery operations or programs at any level or area of interest. Our volunteers include Queen's University and other post-secondary students at both the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as faculty members, artists and community members.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors works collaboratively to provide oversight and direction to Union Gallery staff. Board members work with each other and the Gallery Director to oversee the operations and strategic direction of the organization. The Board is composed of artists, arts administrators, and other professionals who contribute experience in fundraising, financial management, human resources, equity work, administration, and technical expertise to our successful operation.

  • Maddi Andrews

    Maddi Andrews is an Artist, Art Administrator, and Art Educator based in Katarokwi-Kingston. She is currently the Executive Director of Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre. Maddi completed her Master’s in Art History at Queen’s University in 2021.

  • Nicole Bruce

    Nicole Bruce has over 15 years of experience as a business development, marketing and sales leader, and has worked with companies across Canada and the U.S. Nicole is the Education Marketing and Development Officer at the Art Canada Institute (ACI). 

  • Charlotte Gagnier

    Charlotte Gagnier is an educator and curator in Katarokwi-Kingston. She’s currently Program Coordinator at Agnes Etherington Art Centre. She holds degrees in Museum Studies (MMSt) and Geography (BAH) and loves exploring new skills like birdwatching and silversmithing.

    Cory is Queen's Art, Drama, and Music Librarian. Her work involves building collections that reflect multiple identity-based perspectives including representation of works on and by women, LGBTQ2S+ artists, and artists who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Colour.

  • Amy Pierrson

    Amy has turned her passion for art & design and deep commitment to mentoring the growth and development of aspiring artists and designers into a rewarding career. She is a part-time professor of Graphic Design at St. Lawrence College and is currently working on her MA at the University of Leeds.

  • Alyce Soulodre

    Alyce Soulodre is a queer visual artist and occasional academic writer. Her PhD in English explored horror and mystery texts from Victorian novels to contemporary B-movies. Her art practice reflects her fascination with creatures and plants of all kinds.

  • Hill Werth

    Hill Werth is former pro athlete and internationally recognized trans non-binary mixed media artist and activist, using their art and voice to spread visibility, awareness, and representation. B.Ed Queen’s University. B.A. UCLA Art History/ History.
