Sculpt a Pet with Lynette (for kids!)

UG’s summer workshop series is here! Join us in person at Union Gallery for four free, artist-led programs with our exhibiting artists, Maevis Chamberlain and Lynette Zhang, and our Stronger Together artists in residence.

The first three workshops (June 25, July 5, July 16) are open to all ages and levels of experience, while the final workshop (August 9) is open to children ages 6-12.

All programs are free of cost, but space is limited, so registration is required. If you have questions or require assitance, get in touch: uniongallery@queensu.ca / 613.533.3171.

Projection Jam

Wednesday, June 25 @ 6pm

Facilitators: Bree Rappaport + Nathan Zhe

Join artists in residence Bree Rappaport and Nathan Zhe for an interactive experimental art workshop on the walls of Union Gallery. In this hands-on session, participants will learn about live analogue projection techniques and create unique designs for a mesmerizing visual experience. This workshop is open to all and will be followed by an open projection jam.

Mending with Maevis

Saturday, July 5 @ 1pm-3pm

Facilitator: Maevis Chamberlain

Instead of throwing away your clothes with holes, come to this workshop for the opportunity to create patches that will bring new life to your well loved items! This session with exhibiting artist Maevis Chamberlain is open to all sewing experience levels, and we will provide a range of materials to follow your creative whims. You can bring an item that you would like to patch up or instead bring your patch home with you to sew on.

Good Luck Charms

Wednesday, July 16 @ 6pm

Facilitator: Caryn Wei Ya Xie

These days, who doesn't need a good luck charm? In this workshop, artist in residence Caryn Wei Ya Xie will teach participants how to create charms like Chinese lucky knots to add a little luck to your keychain.

Sculpt a Pet with Lynette (for kids!)

Saturday, August 9 @ 1pm-3pm

Facilitator: Lynette Zhang

Animals are our best friends—in this workshop, we’ll be celebrating them by creating sculpted pet portraits! Using quick-drying clay and paint, exhibiting artist Lynette Zhang will show you how to sculpt a dog, cat, rabbit, or imaginary creature as your emotional companion. This workshop is recommended for ages 6-12.
